A memorial for Zena Butcher.

Connie's Story (Zena's daughter)

[{"id":1,"type":"text","position":0,"block_data":{"block_content":"I was one years old when my mum Zena was diagnosed with a brain tumour, I can only imagine what it must have been like to continue as if everything was okay in front of your young child, but all I know is my mum and the rest of the family did well."}},{"id":2,"type":"text","focus":true,"position":1,"block_data":{"block_content":"Mum and dad had always decided that they would be open with me about my mums illness and what the consequences were, and I guess that helped me at such a young age. I was able to look at death in a different way, knowing I had to cherish the moments I had with mum."}},{"id":3,"type":"text","focus":true,"position":2,"block_data":{"block_content":"Unfortunately I only have vivid memories of my mum, although I can't remember her smell or the way she spoke from what I can remember she was always smiling, having a laugh and just being genuinely loved by everyone that knew her. Looking at past videos and pictures I can see mum always loved me, she cherished her time around myself and our family."}},{"id":9,"type":"photo_from_gallery","focus":true,"position":3,"block_data":{"photo_id":51,"photo_url":"https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/echoleft-production/images/3477a0b00fd1ef66c2abea611e1ca744d906d3a2/original.jpg?1434575541"}},{"id":4,"type":"text","focus":true,"position":4,"block_data":{"block_content":"Two months before my 7th birthday mum passed away. I always remember dad breaking the news to me and allowing me to go and see her to wave goodbye and give her one last kiss. St Nicholas Hospice helped dad and I tremendously after mum was gone and especially the programme known as Nicky's Way. They helped me continue my lasting memories of my mum by creating memory jars, making photo frames, and sometimes (if we were lucky) letting us smash plates and tomatoes to release any anger out."}},{"id":5,"type":"text","focus":true,"position":5,"block_data":{"block_content":"Therefore I ask you, on the 10th anniversary of my mums death, to join me and others to raise money for this amazing charity who help our family so very much. Connie, mum was lovely. She was so much like Tracey and me and 'said it like it was'.' She loved you so much, her little Bun. She was one to always make things happen and she knew how to get people together, something which she has obviously passed on to you. You know how much we love you, like she did, so you can always feel wanted and needed. I love you to the moon and back. Xxxx

Hi Connie you don't know me but I met your mum when your Grandad gave me his ticket to see Ipswich play Man Utd a long time ago. I was a stranger and your mum made me feel really welcome immediatley. She was a lovely friendly warm person and that day we had a lot of fun. Its good to have an anniversary because your mum is well worth remembering. I wont forget her. I hope today is good for you. with warmest wishes....Maurice Sheehan
